Shawndel is a State and Local Tax Manager in the Tax Services practice of Brown Smith Wallace. She brings more than 25 years of public accounting and industry experience where she has worked in all aspects of individual and corporate taxation in a variety of industries.
In her role, Shawndel provides state and local income tax consulting and planning services, compliance review, credit and incentives compliance and consulting, as well as audit defense. She continually monitors the legislative and regulatory landscape to stay current with changing rules and regulations.
Shawndel most recently served as a Manager at RubinBrown LLP, where she was responsible for extensive state and local income tax compliance for clients of all industries. She has more than 10 years of Big Four accounting firm experience, beginning at Arthur Andersen (Andersen) and subsequently PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Shawndel was a SALT Manager at Andersen where she provided multi-state tax compliance and consulting services, identified opportunities for state planning, negotiated credits and incentives, and pursued refund opportunities. In addition, she was successful in audit defense and claim support for these opportunities.
While at PwC, Shawndel was a Manager in the National Credits and Incentives Group, where she focused on identifying, analyzing and negotiating the most favorable state and local government tax credits and incentives for clients.
Shawndel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Illinois State University. She is a Certified Credits and Incentives Professional (CCIP) and holds a Certificate of Enrollment to Practice before the Internal Revenue Service.
