Bob is a Director in the Brown Smith Wallace Advisory Services practice where he focuses on construction audit. His responsibilities include performing onsite assessments and assurance reviews regarding the physical construction, compliance with organizational policies and procedures, and the effectiveness of controls. He conducts root cause analysis and develops proactive recommendations for clients.
With almost 35 years of experience in construction management and corporate construction projects, he effectively balances client satisfaction, project budgets, schedules, vendor contracts and partnerships with consultants. He attains increased savings for clients through his strong knowledge of construction delivery methods, procurement, contracting, management processes, contract types, incentive strategies, labor rate and vehicle allowances, as well as cost buildup techniques and equipment pricing.
Bob possesses deep expertise in negotiating developer agreements, lease language, construction contracts, and various service agreements. He is also well-versed in all contract types: guaranteed maximum price (GMP), lump sum, design-build and cost-plus. Bob has overseen and managed construction projects across the nation, including commercial office buildings and interiors, parking garages, industrial manufacturing, fitness centers, health care facilities, schools, churches and retail stores.
Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Bob was most recently the Senior Director of Construction at Centene. Over the course of his career, Hardy successfully managed more than 70 capital projects with budgets ranging from $350,000 to over $500,000,000 that included demanding tenant build-outs and complex ground-up developments.
By overseeing delivery methods, contracts, developer agreement negotiations, change order due-diligence, lease language oversight, labor rate reviews, and equipment pricing, it is estimated that Hardy saved project owners millions over the course of his career.
Bob earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management and his Minor in Business Administration from Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
Bob is an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He enjoys completing home improvement projects and has coached youth soccer, baseball, softball and football.
