Ira is a Partner in the Entrepreneurial Services Group at Brown Smith Wallace. He was a co-founder and the managing principal at Bergman, Schraier & Co., which merged into Brown Smith Wallace in 2016.

Ira was named "CPA of the Year" in 2000 by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA), St. Louis chapter. Nationally, he has headed the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Tax Practice and Procedures Committee and the AICPA Taxpayers’ Rights Task Force, as well as communications with the IRS task force. In addition, he was a member of the executive committee of the AICPA tax division. For several years, Ira served as chairman of the MOCPA state and local chapter tax committees.

As a leading CPA spokesperson, Ira has provided testimony on tax-related issues before the IRS and the U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on commerce. He was also a guest speaker for an IRS Research Conference in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of the University of Missouri – St. Louis, Ira established a scholarship at the University for accounting majors who are financially disadvantaged. He currently serves as the vice president on the executive committee and board of directors of Royal Bancshares, Inc., as well as the executive committee and board of directors of Royal Banks of Missouri.
