David is a Tax Partner and leads the Family Wealth Planning practice at Brown Smith Wallace.

David has more than 25 years of experience and is responsible for the growth and development of the Family Wealth Planning practice. This practice serves individuals, families, closely held businesses and executives with comprehensive tax and wealth management services. David’s areas of expertise include:

  • Income tax compliance and consulting
  • Estate planning
  • Family business consulting
  • Business succession planning
  • Advanced planning
  • Estate, gift and trust compliance

The Family Wealth Planning professionals do not sell investments or products. The team works with a client’s advisors to provide independent and timely tax, business and estate planning advice.

David also provides expertise on various individual, partnership, estate, gift and trust income-tax-related issues to the tax group.

David began his career working with wealthy individuals and closely-held business owners, in addition to providing estate, gift and trust work for a local corporate trustee, Mark Twain Bank. He has experience with delivering services to a prominent St. Louis family office. David continued to develop his areas of expertise including providing estate planning and consulting to clients and joined Brown Smith Wallace in 2005.

He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MOCPA) and the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. Louis University.

David currently serves on the Board of the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis, the American Red Cross Planned Giving Advisory Council and the St. Louis County Library Foundation Professional Advisors Group.
