Cathy is a Partner and co-director of administration in the Brown Smith Wallace Tax Services group where she leads the Startup Industry Group. She has many years’ experience evidenced by her expertise and commitment as a tax advisor. Her experience spans the industries of advertising, distribution, contractors, food service, health care, real estate, startup and wholesale, among others. She authors tax updates and frequently speaks to various audiences on tax topics.
Prior to her arrival at Brown Smith Wallace, Cathy served as Principal at a local CPA firm where she provided diverse tax services, including tax planning and consulting services, as well as supervised work assignments and staff development.
Cathy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters of Science in Taxation from Fontbonne University, graduating with honors. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Public Accountants, where she served as the St. Louis chapter president in 2012-2013. She was the recipient of the MSCPA CPA Women-to-Watch award and was an adjunct professor at Fontbonne University teaching Real Estate Taxation in the Masters of Science in Taxation program.
In addition to the teaching, Cathy's past and present professional activities include past Treasurer to the Clayton High School Football Boosters, the Referral Network of BNI International, and Congregation Temple Israel. She is a member of the investment committee, finance committee, and board for Congregation Temple Israel, audit committee member for the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, board and finance committee member for Kids In The Middle, Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, and committee member for several local charities.
