Carl is a Manager in Brown Smith Wallace’s Tax Services practice and is responsible for managing and overseeing cost segregation service engagements. These services focus on commercial real estate properties and construction related activities for federal and state tax reporting purposes. Carl has a unique set of skills in tax and engineering.
With nearly three decades of industry experience, Carl is an established cost segregation expert. He is skilled in all aspects of the cost segregation study process, as well as in identifying tax savings related to personal and real property costs. Carl will focus on client service, the continued growth of the firm’s cost segregation service offering and training staff on best practices.
Carl has focused his expertise in the manufacturing, retail, transportation, energy and utilities, real estate and hospitality industries. Within those broad categories, he has specific experience with serving clients in food and beverage processing, quick service restaurants, retail stores, construction, transportation services, mining, healthcare, commercial real estate, banking, defense, pharmaceuticals, electric and gas utilities, and a wide variety of manufacturing operations.
Carl’s experience includes serving as national director of real estate tax services for Tax Projects Group and serving as a regional leader of cost segregation for McGladrey.
Carl received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
