Transaction Advisory Leader Co-Presents Webinar, “Fraud in Small Businesses: What’s Occurring and How to Prevent It”
Occupational fraud is a threat to organizations of all sizes and industries. According to the 2018 study released by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), occupational fraud costs organizations an estimated 5 percent of their annual revenue. Smaller businesses (those with less than 100 employees) typically experience both the greatest percentage of fraud cases and suffer the largest loss. It’s more important than ever to know what to look for when it comes to fraud and what you should do if you suspect fraudulent activity within your business.
Jason Buhlinger, Principal, Transaction Advisory and Litigation Support Services, partnered with Norman Newmark, chief tax attorney at AEGIS Law, for a presentation on fraud risk to small businesses and protecting your business from embezzlement. This webinar covered the fraud risks to small businesses, the red flags of fraud, ways that small businesses can protect themselves and what steps to take if fraud is suspected.
