HHS Issues Updated PRF Reporting Timelines
After months of delay, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued updated reporting timelines for Provider Relief Fund (PRF) recipients.
The reporting time period and the deadline to use the funds will be based on the dates when providers received more than $10,000 in PRF payments. The periods and timeframes for use and reporting are summarized in the table below:
|Payment Received Period (Payments Exceeding $10,000 in Aggregate Received)||Deadline to Use Funds||Reporting Time Period|
|Period 1||April 10, 2020 to June 30, 2020||June 30, 2021||July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021|
|Period 2||July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020||December 31, 2021||January 1, 2022 to March 31, 2022|
|Period 3||January 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021||June 30, 2022||July 1, 2022 to September 30, 2022|
|Period 4||July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021||December 31, 2022||January 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023|
It is important to note that the deadline for use of funds received in the second half of 2020 and in 2021 have been extended significantly. The previous guidance was that all funds would need to be used by June 30, 2021. This will impact many providers who received Phase 2 and Phase 3 payments within this period of time, and those who are continuing to receive Phase 3 payments in 2021. Also, providers who received less than $10,000 in each reporting period are no longer required to report, even if their aggregated payments exceed the $10,000 threshold.
As of June 11, HHS has not updated the FAQs on the allowable use of funds. The announcement does indicate that webinars will be scheduled and additional FAQs and a PRF Reporting Portal Use Guide will be published. We will let you know as additional information is made available.
