HHS Extends Deadline for Acceptance of the Provider Relief Fund Terms and Conditions
On Friday, May 22, 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced another extension of the deadline to accept the Terms and Conditions from the first round of the Provider Relief Fund (PRF). The deadline is now 90 days from the date of receipt. A provider who received funds on April 10 now has until July 9 to sign the attestation. As before, failure to execute the attestation will be considered as acceptance by HHS.
What has not changed is the deadline for providers to apply for the second round of the PRF. This is important for providers who do not file cost reports, such as physician practices. For such providers, the deadline remains June 3. To apply for the second round, providers must execute the attestation for the first round.
In its announcement, HHS did not give any reason for this extension. As a reminder, an attestation is required for each HHS relief fund payment. Providers should always read each set of terms and conditions for these payments carefully as they sometimes differ.
