Cybersecurity Infographic: Frequency and Origins of Data Breaches
Cybercriminals work tirelessly to find vulnerabilities that will allow them to steal information assets, consumer credit card information and other personally identifiable information (PII). In 2013, Missouri-based organizations had the 5th highest number of exposed records by state in the U.S. More than 70% of all reported incidents in 2013 involved outside threats, and not all were new offenses—12% were repeat incidents.
Even though nearly half of organizations say they align their security policies with their business strategy, half of companies also say a lack of skilled resources prevents them from effectively addressing security issues. In fact, many businesses fail to detect breaches without outside assistance—40% of cyberattacks are discovered by a party outside the affected company.
