Audit Leaders Present “Employee Benefit Plan Fiduciary 101” Webinar
On Wednesday, May 22, Audit Partner and Construction Industry Group Leader Scott Brandt and Audit Manager Barb Hall presented the webinar “Employee Benefit Plan Fiduciary 101” for the Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO).
If you are a benefit plan administrator, plan sponsor, trustee, plan committee member, investment manager, investment advisor or a human resources professional, you may be considered a retirement plan fiduciary. Under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), a person or entity is considered a fiduciary if they exercise discretionary control over plan management, exercise discretionary authority or control over plan assets, have discretionary authority for plan administration or give investment advice for a fee.
During the webinar, Barb provided an overview of fiduciary responsibilities, liability associated with fiduciary responsibilities, including recent case examples, prohibited transactions and required communications.
