John Schwartze Joins Brown Smith Wallace as a Principal
(ST. LOUIS, July 28, 2020) John Schwartze has joined Brown Smith Wallace as a principal in the Tax Services practice. He brings more than 15 years of experience as an international tax professional with previous roles in public accounting and large multinational corporations. Schwartze’s responsibilities have included all aspects of the tax lifecycle: planning, modeling, execution, provisioning, reporting and controversy.
Prior to joining the firm, Schwartze served as director of planning and international tax at Peabody Energy. During this time, he led development, investigation and execution of tax planning opportunities on a global scale while overseeing international tax compliance in the US and foreign jurisdictions. His prior experience includes being an integral member of the National R&D Credit team at Grant Thornton and working on a full spectrum of clients and projects while at KPMG.
Schwartze is a licensed attorney and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
