Jodi Benson Earns Prosci Change Management Certification
(ST. LOUIS, April 9, 2021) Jodi Benson, Senior Consultant in Advisory Services, recently became the first Brown Smith Wallace employee to complete Prosci’s change management certification program, the most widely attended change management certification in the world.
The Prosci certification program, currently utilized by 80% of Fortune 100 companies, is a change management program that combines scientific principles with a focus on the people side of change to deliver exceptional training programs and ensure optimal customer experience. Its methodology was developed from the world’s largest body of change management research compiled over the last 20 years.
Benson decided to pursue the certification after noticing clients’ growing need for assistance navigating change, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“[Change management expertise] is no longer a recommendation. I think it’s a key ingredient to the success of any significant initiatives our clients are undertaking,” Benson said.
The Prosci certification complemented Benson’s existing background in operational training and development, allowing her to reinforce many of the ideas she was already familiar with while learning new change management concepts and best practices.
“This certification provides me with proven tools and methodologies ask the right questions and guide clients through their change efforts,” Benson said. “Performing a health check, or initial assessment, helps us understand where they’re at right now and how we can help strengthen their approach and fill in the gaps.”
Change management services are delivered through the Firm’s Business Performance Consulting service line. This team helps organizations analyze current operations and find opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and effectiveness, and support the growth and evolution of their organization.
“Change management is needed anytime you have a shift or adjustment in your daily activities, work environment or organizational structure. This service offering is timely given the significant changes and transformation that companies are experiencing that impact their people personally and professionally,” said Dave Contrera, Business Performance Consulting Principal.
Recent studies have reinforced the need for change management. Prosci’s Best Practices in Change Management benchmarking studies revealed that 93% of participants with excellent change management skills met or exceeded objectives, while only 15% of those with poor change management skills met or exceeded objectives.
As a newly certified Prosci Change Practitioner, Benson’s immediate focus is to create awareness of change management and its tremendous value on improving projects of all sizes. She is hoping to help others understand just how pervasive the need for change management is in the workplace and how instrumental a good understanding of change management can be in making projects run more efficiently, more successfully, while lowering risk, to give clients a better return on investment.
