Brown Smith Wallace Joins More Than 600 CEOs in Unprecedented Commitment to Advance Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
(ST. LOUIS, June 20, 2019) Managing partner Tony Caleca is committing himself and Brown Smith Wallace to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. He is one of more than 600 CEOs that have come together for the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ initiative.
By signing this commitment, Brown Smith Wallace is pledging to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcome and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion. The collective of more than 600 signatories has already shared more than 600 best practices, exchanging tangible learning opportunities and creating collaborative conversations via the initiative’s unified hub, CEOAction.com.
“Signing the pledge reiterates our commitment to fostering an environment of mutual respect and support with each other and our clients,” said Caleca. “We value diverse expertise, experience and viewpoints because doing so makes us stronger. We’re proud to be among the first firms based in St. Louis making this commitment.”
Brown Smith Wallace has been nationally and locally recognized for their programs to advance women by organizations such as the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Accounting MOVE Project and the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis. The firm continues to make diversity and inclusion a priority by supporting the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA); developing recruiting relationships with Harris-Stowe State University, a historically black public university; as well as supporting and encouraging the employment of veterans.
Organizations joining the pledge are taking a step toward affecting positive change. A diverse and inclusive workforce not only facilitates community, but also drives innovation and creativity. In a recent study, 85 percent of those surveyed reported that diversity is a key component to fostering innovation.
CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ is cultivating a new type of ecosystem centered around collaboration and sharing. The actions, available via CEOAction.com, showcase real-life examples of the open and transparent conversations to cultivate more diverse and inclusive workplace environments.
