Moore Stephens International Global CEO Anton Colella Visits Brown Smith Wallace

03.05.2019

In February, Brown Smith Wallace welcomed Anton Colella, Moore Stephens International Global CEO, to tour our St. Louis office and meet with many of our firm’s professionals, including some members of our emerging leader group and members of firm leadership.

Brown Smith Wallace is an independent member firm of Moore Stephens North America (MSNA), one of eight regional members of Moore Stephens International Limited (MSIL), the 9th largest accounting network in the world with 271 member firms across 112 countries. Anthony Caleca, managing partner of Brown Smith Wallace, serves as vice chair of the MSNA executive board, and serves on the MSIL Global Board alongside leaders of the top performing CPA and business advisory firms through the world.

Anton discussed what differentiates Moore Stephens as a global network is the sense of family and community, which provides the opportunity to build a community of collaboration with Brown Smith Wallace and other member firms across the world. He also emphasized the importance of restoring a “profound humanity” to the accounting profession and the role in being companions with clients throughout their business journey, helping bring peace of mind to both clients and colleagues in a world that is constantly changing due to technological innovation.

Anton shared about his diverse background and professional leadership, and how his experience prepared him to join the Moore Stephens network as its Global Chief Executive in April 2018. Born in Glasgow, Anton spent 18 years teaching theology in many of the most challenging schools in Scotland. In 2003, he took the helm of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). From 2006-2018, he served as the Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), the world’s first professional body of Chartered Accountants (CAs). As the leader of the ICAS, Anton focused on reengaging its membership, helping develop a network of relationships and deeper sense of community, and investing in equipping the ICAS to be a leading digital organization in the global profession.

Anton brings this experience, as well as knowledge of the international business environment and a strong background in education and development, to Moore Stephens. He took the time to discuss his vision for the Moore Stephens network, its member firms across the world and the accounting profession on a global basis. Anton plans to continue driving growth and strengthening the Moore Stephens brand worldwide. He noted his goal to develop the best leaders in public accounting and for Moore Stephens to become the most respected accounting network in the world.
