Q&A

Q. Without naming names, tell us about your favorite client and why you enjoyed working with them.
A client that over time, became a mentor to me. I spent a lot of time with him and observed how he addressed issues and his philanthropy. My philanthropic quality was very much learned from him. He was active in his community and he took me under his wing, taking me to events and inviting me to serve on several boards.
Q. Please tell us one fun fact about yourself.
When I attended Washington University, I was one of a small group of friends that promoted a concert featuring Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs, who had a No. 1 album in 1966.
Q. Describe your work style.
I’m very calendar oriented. I put everything on my calendar including focus time if I’m working on a project. I’m also very responsive. A lot of what I do involves communication and being accessible. I do my best to get back to clients with answers as quickly as possible or at least let them know that I understand what they’re asking and will find a solution.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life
My wife. Her work ethic is unmatched, and her success is self-made. She is the best partner, gives great advice and she raises me up, adding something to me as a person.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Learn how to communicate and interact with other human beings as opposed to relying on electronic communications. If you can get in front of a client, do it, and if you ever don’t know what to say, ask people about themselves.
