Where Does Your Not For Profit Need to Register?
Brown Smith Wallace and Gabriel Group are teaming up to bring our NPO clients and friends a special presentation about state registration requirements for donation solicitations.
Forty states, including Missouri* and Illinois, require nonprofits to register with a state agency in order to request donations from residents. Any type of solicitation - including mail, phone or email - is subject to this requirement, regardless of whether your nonprofit receives any donations.
*Some exceptions apply.
On our panel:
Nathan Thomas, J.D. - Nathan is a partner with Copilevitz & Canter, a law firm based in Kansas City. He focuses on charitable fundraising, including compliance with charitable solicitation laws, structuring and drafting agreements, and fundraising.
