Financial Reporting 141/142

Statement 141 requires that all business combinations be accounted for by a single method—the purchase method. The purchase method records all business combinations based on the values exchanged, providing information about the total purchase price paid to acquire another entity. Our team has conducted over 80 FAS 141 engagements with an aggregate value of more than $7 billion.

Statement 142 makes the amortization of acquired goodwill and other intangible assets acceptable. Our highly experienced team has conducted more than 100 successful FAS 142 engagements.  We can help you understand and address the volatility in reported income that may be caused by impairment losses, which are likely to occur irregularly and in varying amounts.
