Q&A

Q. Make a prediction; describe your vision of the future of the general business environment for your area of expertise or the industries you serve.
In the construction industry, there is a huge opportunity to embrace technology. The manual drilling of a screw isn’t going to change, but the oversight and organization of the work presents opportunity to embrace technology solutions. It could be as simple as replacing manual timesheets with an app that submits thing electronically for review and approval, or perhaps even using Power BI to analyze job status, productivity, budgets, collections, billings and more.
Q. Please tell us one fun fact about yourself.
My parents were professional bowlers growing up. I enjoyed watching them perfect their craft and teach me the importance of dedication and hard work.
Q. Describe your work style.
Doing what it takes to get the job done. The bottom line is getting the right answer and delivering to clients. With colleagues, I am very direct to some extent, but it is a directness out of caring. I care about their development.
Q. Who is (or was) the most influential person in your life?
My high school football coach. He always said, “Act like you’ve done it before,” and it’s how I approach life. He instilled in me that a goal with no plan and no work is not reality.
Q. If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to aspiring accountants or consultants, what would that be?
Embrace change. Things change on a daily basis. You’ll know as much as you can, but there is constant room for improvement. Don’t let fear prevent you from growing and becoming the best version of yourself.
Q. What do you love most about your work?
We’ve created a firm with great work/life balance that allows everyone flexibility when needed.
