ATHENA Leadership Foundation Names Brown Smith Wallace as 2017 Organizational Leadership Award Recipient

(ST. LOUIS, April 25, 2017) ATHENA Leadership Foundation of St. Charles County names Brown Smith Wallace as the Organizational Leadership Award recipient for 2017.

ATHENA’s mission is to support, honor and develop women leaders and inspire women to reach their full potential. They internationally recognize leaders for their accomplishments, community service, and for mentoring others, especially women.

ATHENA provides awards in three categories including the Leadership Award presented to one individual, the Young Professional Leadership Award presented to two individuals and the Organizational Leadership award presented to one organization.

Brown Smith Wallace is deeply involved in community service and leadership initiatives in the St. Charles community. The accounting and business advisory firm’s public sector practice hosts quarterly briefings for St. Charles County municipal government and not-for-profit professionals.  Brown Smith Wallace tax principal Anne Ritter is chairman of the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce. Bill Willbrand, a firm partner and St. Charles native, is also actively involved in EDC Business and Community Partners. Altogether the Brown Smith Wallace staff serves on the boards of more than 100 organizations.  The firm also supports an internal women’s initiative with a mission of education and empowerment. In 2014, they created The Bridge: Connecting Women Leaders of Today & Tomorrow to provide a series of networking events to inspire women to reach their full potential. More than 2,500 women have attended the events.

ATHENA’s award ceremony will take place May 3, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at ATHENA’s annual Summit and Awards Luncheon located at Lindenwood University’s J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts. Cathy Goldsticker, partner, tax services at Brown Smith Wallace, will be a featured guest speaker. Reservations for the Summit and Awards Luncheon are open through April 26 via athenasaintcharles.org.  Cost is $75 for both, or $35 for the luncheon only.
