Fiduciary Training

As an individual fiduciary you must first understand your benefit plan responsibilities to be able to fulfill them.

Benefit Plans Plus trains individuals, whether incumbent or newly appointed, in basic ERISA fiduciary principles to enable them to fulfill their duties and operate more effectively.

This training focuses not on risk management but directly on the interests of plan participants and beneficiaries. Advanced training to reinforce these principles is available for more experienced fiduciaries.

What is the process?

We believe a formalized training program provides the framework for improved fiduciary decision making. A Custom Fiduciary CharterSM by Benefit Plans Plus provides each client with fiduciary tools designed to improve their performance and fulfill their legal obligations to plan participants. The training process may include the following:

Basic Training
Our goal is to make newly appointed trustees aware of basic fiduciary concepts and principles.

Advanced Training
Leading edge training designed to reinforce earlier training, re-emphasize general fiduciary principles and describe expected behaviors. Additionally, we will design and provide training on subjects, as determined by you to meet specific needs or identified weaknesses.

Who needs fiduciary training?

Fiduciary training is appropriate and necessary for directors, boards of trustees, ERISA trustees, financial advisors, administrative and investment fiduciaries to introduce them to fiduciary principles and to reinforce these principles on an ongoing basis.

Why should I engage Benefit Plans Plus?

Fiduciaries must understand and fulfill their fiduciary duty. Recent increases in governmental scrutiny and ERISA litigation confirm this. Our Fiduciary Services unit, in alliance with nationally recognized partners, delivers services focused on your plan participants’ needs and to help you minimize future problems or violations.

What else should I consider?
